FUN TIME FOR KIDS WITH YOUNG LIVING PRODUCTS
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
It’s finally a long term break in Singapore now. Yay!!! June holiday!!! One of the most favored time to bring your kids out for activities such as camping, water play or even travelling.
What I enjoyed most as an oiler mama is that we have readily available resources to make sure the kids are supported no matter where or what activities we chose!
So here it is! Some of the most common activities + how to support them the Young Living way:
- Indoor Playgrounds, Bouncy Castles and Ball pools
Ok…honestly…I don’t even want to know if they disinfect, clean or sterilise those balls, things, toys and etc in those places!!! I don’t even want to know if they let kids who are coughing and sneezing in or not! Worse when its all aircon with no ventilation! Not that I will let my kid into those places if she’s having a flu. Uh-uh no I wouldn’t. But that doesn’t mean other parents wouldn’t too. And sometimes, we also don’t know if they have the bug or not. So, what we can do is to always stay ready and alert, and keep our immune system running optimally.
What you can use:
Chewable SuperC and Ningxia Red for your 2 years old and above
Thieves OR ImmuPower on sole before & after entering the den
Raindrop once a week
2. Waterplay/Swimming
I don’t even want to know how much chlorines are used to keep those waterparks and pools clean. One whiff and I can tell for sure it’s a lot a lot.
So, what happens if we accumulated too much chlorines in our system?
You can check out http://gochemless.com/top-10-dangers-of-swimming-pool-chlorine/ for some of the summarized harms chlorine can cause.
The effects of the sun is also magnified when you are in water so you really should use a sunscreen.
What you can use:
Geranium OR Orange on rub palm or on sole to support the detox system. Carrot Seed is another great oil to consider too.
Geranium helps to warm up the body as well as remove the smell of chlorine.
DIY Sunscreen (please check DIY recipes towards the end of the blog)
3. Camping/Picnic
Ok…I have to admit that I am biased. This is the one activity I will agree wholeheartedly as Mr Shining Sun is nature’s best disinfectant~ But we do have to protect our skin somehow though. Also, there is a potential price to pay when one is having great fun and become careless. But we certainly can minimize mishaps by simply being prepared.
What you can use:
DIY First Aid Spray
DIY Insect Repellent Spray
DIY Sunscreen
(please check DIY recipes towards the end of the blog)
I will definitely bring along my bottle of Purification or Lemongrass just in case we meet some persistent mosquitoes. Reinforcement as well as great soother for itch too. Oh…and spraying the DIY Insect Repellent Spray around your picnic mat keeps the nosy ants out too. And they are safe to be around your food cos you DIY-ed them and you know how pure the ingredients you used are. J
4. Too Much Walking
After the excitements had died down, it’s like suddenly the little ones remembered that they had been jumping and hopping non-stop for 4-5 hours! They suddenly realize and started grumbling of aches and pains. They refused to move until you pick them up!
….so here’s What you can use:
OrthoEase (renaming to BodyEase)
Lemongrass + V6
Panaway + V6
Deep Relief
Cool Azul Gel
Apply topically over sore muscles for relief
Take Ningxia Red regularly helps too
5. Too Much Street Food
You are out, so you have to eat out. Or you go travelling and you can’t possibly cook. Sometimes the food outside is not that agreeable with our digestive system.
What you can use:
Ningxia Red to regulate bowel movements even when overseas
Mightyzyme
TummyGize or DiGize + V6
Ningxia Red to regulate bowel movements even when overseas
Mightyzyme
TummyGize or DiGize + V6
6. Creative Holiday Program
Or you’ve opted to sign up your child for a week’s worth of painting or creative writing program. It is believed that aromatherapy can be especially beneficial for the creative brain. Essential oils can increase creativity by sending stimulating messages to the brain that enhances relaxation and positivity. Leonardo Da Vinci is said to have used aromatics as a method of inducing inspiration, and his essential oil of choice was Neroli.
What you can use:
Valor or Vetiver (for grounding and more focused learning)
Highest Potential/Believe/Frankincense/Joy for creativity
MindWise Supplement if you can order from US
And here are the DIY Recipes mentioned above:
DIY First Aid Spray
- 5 drops Lavender
- 3 drops Tea Tree
- 2 drops Dorado Azul
- Mix the recipe above thoroughly in ½ teaspoon of salt. Add this to 8 oz of distilled water, shake vigorously and pour into a spray bottle. Spray minor cuts and wounds before applying bandage.
DIY Insect Repellent Spray - 6 drops Peppermint
- 6 drops Purification
- Drop the oils above into the spray bottle with ½ teaspoon of salt. Top up the spray bottle with distilled water, shake vigorously before use.
DIY Sunscreen - 4 oz V6 Vegetable Oil
- 30 drops Lavender
- 10 drops Carrot Seed
- Fill all the ingredients in an amber-colored bottle, shake well before applying on your skin to prevent skin from drying out. And doesn’t have to be reapplied every time you go in the water.
And that pretty much sums up the potential June Holiday programs you might have planned! Do feel free to drop me a note if I’ve left out anything~

5 DIYs using Premium Starter Kit Essential Oils
If you have been wondering what other ways you can use the essential oils in your premium starter kit other than diffusing and applying topically. Keep reading, this is the article for you. You may be surprised that how much money you can save by just D-I-Y-ing.
LAVENDER PILLOW MIST
Spray this onto your pillow before you hit the bed – Lavender is one of the most trusted essential oil that supports restful sleep.
What you’ll need:
- Lavender essential oil – 10 drops
- Unscented Witch Hazel – 1 teaspoon
- Distilled water
- Tinted glass spray bottle (60ml)
What to do:
- Add Lavender essential oil, 1 teaspoon of unscented witch hazel into the spray bottle and fill up with distilled water. Shake before each use. You may wish to spray inside of the pillowcases if your sheets/pillowcases are light colors, as the oil in the mist may stain.
BYE BYE ANTS SPRAY
If you noticed there’s trail of ants marching in your kitchen, this is the secret recipe for you. Bonuses – toxic free and smell great!
What you’ll need:
- Peppermint essential oil – 10 drops
- Lemon essential oil – 8 drops
- Unscented Witch Hazel – 1 teaspoon
- Rubbing alcohol
- Distilled water
- Tinted glass spray bottle (60ml)
What to do:
- Add essential oils and unscented witch hazel into the spray bottle. Fill up the rest of the bottle with an equivalent portion of distilled water and rubbing alcohol. Shake before each use and spray on the ant trails you find. Repeat this daily till the ants are gone.
(Note: Turn away your face if you are spraying this mist onto areas that are above your eye level, so as to avoid the mist from getting into your eyes. Don’t make this noob mistake like me, and trust me you will get very teary eyes – Tested and proven!)
FUNKY SMELL BUSTER
This is THE effective toxic-free smell buster that works every time! I have tried this for poop-nami accidents that happened in baby’s room/car, food smell that lingers in all your rooms after cooking because you have an open concept kitchen, smelly shoes and freshening up your post-bombing session in the toilet – It works every time.
What you’ll need:
- Peppermint essential oil – 15 drops
- Unscented Witch Hazel – 1 teaspoon
- Distilled water
- Tinted glass spray bottle (60ml)
What to do:
- Add Purification essential oil, 1 teaspoon of unscented witch hazel into the spray bottle and fill up with distilled water. Shake before each use.
RELAXING EPSOM SALT FOOK SOAK
Need some extra help to relax your tired feet after a long day of standing or workout? This recipe works well for my family.
What you’ll need:
- Lavender essential oil – 10 drops
- Peppermint essential oil – 8 drops
- Epsom Salt
- Glass container
What to do:
- Add Epsom salt into glass container (do not fill up to the brim as you need some space in the bottle to shake things up later), followed by the essential oils, close the lid and shake container to give it a good mix.
How to use:
- Scope 2 tablespoon of essential oil infused Epsom salt into a tub of warm water (water level to be at your ankle), soak your tired feet into the mixture for 10 minutes.
FOAMING HAND SOAP
What you’ll need:
- Lavender/Thieves essential oil – 20 drops
- Unscented Liquid Castille Soap – 4 tablespoon
- Distilled water
- Foaming Soap Dispenser Bottle (250ml)
What to do:
- Add distilled water into the bottle till about 75% full, followed by essential oil and unscented liquid castile soap, top up distilled water as needed (Leave about 1.5cm space from the brim). Tighten the foaming pump and give it a good shake to mix up the soap solution. (This sequence produces the least foam/mess when you tighten the foaming pump).
Last but not least, remember re-use the bottles after you are done, they just need a good wash.
We only have ONE planet – Earth.
Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
