TRAVELING WITH THIEVES

The thieves range is not just for leaving at home to use for cleaning. I have found some of these are really great for bringing with you when you travel. They are my MUST HAVES when I see the world.
Here’s sharing my top 10 tips for using the thieves products:
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray down the beds! It may not be a huge bug manifestation, but there are many times when you travel and you come across weird bites here and there as you sleep in unfamiliar beds. SPRAY THE BED DOWN. I do it very often whenever I sleep in hotel beds, just to make sure I do not get any bites!
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray down the plane. Esp spritz the air, tray tables and the seat handles around you. Long hours in the plane with recycled air filled with hundreds of other passengers who may be carrying other microorganisms with them is the easiest way to get sick!
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray your hotel rooms. I love use my Thieves spray to spray the aircon vents or even just the air and carpets of hotel rooms. Hotel rooms seldom gets cleaned thoroughly. Often they are made neat and the turn over is fast, so germs and smells still linger. Use the Thieves spray to help you with that.
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray yourself! Sometimes, long flights with missed connections could mean wearing the same piece of clothing for hours. The thieves spray is a great way to get rid of some of that odor so that you do not “suffocate” the person next to you in the plane.
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray everyone! If you ever visit wide open spaces, or decide to have a picnic outdoors to enjoy the weather or the beautiful park, spray some Thieves spray. It will protect you from uninvited multi-legged guests who might want to crash your party.
- THIEVES SPRAY – Spray your bite! Should the unfortunate event happen that you got bitten by an uninvited guest. I personally find that spraying some of the Thieves spray on your bite helps the itch disappear temporarily. As they say dont scratch – do keep spraying.
- THIEVES HAND SANITIZER – Perfect for grubby hands. Yup, if you have a toddler like me, holidays would mean visiting animal farms and markets. That also means grubby hands touching grass, animals, food and it all goes straight into the mouth! ARGHHH! Next thing you know, “MAMA! I HAVE A TUMMY ACHE!” 🙄 So carry this small little bottle with you to clean dirty hands.
- THIEVES VEGGIE SPRAY – Eat your fruits! On every trip that we go for, FRUITS is always a must. But washing them might not always be convenient, so this come in really handy to clean fruits because popping them into your mouth.
- THIEVES VEGGIE SPRAY – Spray the plates and utensils! Not just for fruits and veggie, but often when you travel to certain countries, you may find the flatware undesirable in terms of cleanliness, I like to use the veggie spray to help me clean off extra dirt so we can all eat with a peace of mind.
- THIEVES TOOTH PASTE – You got to brush your teeth anyway! So bring the Thieves toothpaste along with you. Its safe and gentle even for little teeth so sometimes my toddler and I will share a tube when we travel!

DOES YOUR PET HATE OILS?

Koki has a sniffly nose; Koki also hates oils. Well, at least he used to hate oils.
He would flee the moment he saw an oil bottle, and I thought he would never come around to accepting the oils. Now that he has been at my place for almost a week, I figured I’ll start introducing them to him, from scratch, at his pace.
HERE IS WHAT I DID:
1. DIFFUSE FIRST
Instead of rushing to apply oils on him, I started with diffusing the oils while leaving the room door open. This allows him to leave the room if he was uncomfortable with the oil. From this, I could tell which oils he was okay with, and which oils he wasn’t.

2. TRY DIFFERENT OILS, BUT ONLY ONE AT A TIME
You may have to try many different oils before you find the oil that your pet is okay with. In Koki’s case, he was not okay with RC, Raven, Myrtle, Idaho Balsam Fir, Copaiba, Melrose, Cypress, Eu. Blue, Eu. Globulus, Eu. Radiata.

BUT I did find that he was okay with Dorado Azul and Idaho Blue Spruce. So don’t give up and just keep trying different oils!
3. OFFER CLOSED BOTTLES
Now that we have narrowed down to Dorado Azul and Idaho Blue Spruce, I offered him the oils in closed bottles. He walked away from Dorado Azul, but stayed with Idaho Blue Spruce (so I quickly grabbed my camera for this shot).

It was then was I able to massage Idaho Blue Spruce on him without resistance or attempts to escape!
There you go! It’s not that your pet hates oils, you just gotta go slow, respecting their comfort level always and it’s just a matter of time before you find THE OIL for them

OUTDOOR DISTURBANCES

Some time back, there was a post on keeping OUTDOOR DISTURBANCES at bay, you know what I’m talking about, right. For compliance reasons, I can’t say the T and F word, so please refrain from those words in the comment section as well!
Singapore is so hot and humid that these outdoor disturbances are a real concern year round! I’m in another fb group called YL Hacks and there are several posts discussing this topic there. So I’ve decided to compile an entire list of oily and non-oily hacks that have worked for others.
Keep in mind that not everything works for everyone because all dogs are different, so don’t give up until you find what works for you and your dogs. And here’s a gentle reminder that you gotta work on immunity because a strong and healthy dog is not attractive to outdoor disturbances 
DIET
- Oils may help but diet is key. Whole foods and species appropriate diets are best because dry processed foods simply aren’t optimal and wreak havoc on their bodies over time. If not possible, offer Sulfurzyme, Brewers Yeast and Ningxia Red
OILS
- Purification + Palo Santo + Peppermint
- Eucalyptus Globulus + Lemongrass + Citronella
- Cedarwood + Lavender + Tea Tree + Citronella
- Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree)
- Monthly Raindrop
DIY
- Diluted Thieves Household Cleaner sprayed on before going outdoors
- Soak in a bath of diluted Thieves Household Cleaner
- Soak collars in 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol with 32 drops each of Citronella, Purification, Cedarwood, Thyme for 12-24hours, dry thoroughly for at least 12hours, repeat every 3-4 weeks
soak in a tomato juice bath to kill the disturbances - 1 cup apple cider vinegar + 1 litre of warm water, 2-3 drops of Lavender and Cedarwood, spray onto dog/cat
- Powder your dog with food grade diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it around the house, dog beds etc

FRANKINCENSE FOR YOUR FURKIDS

I just adore Frankincense.

This is now my go to oil to diffuse for my kittens, and they adore it too! I’ve always known Frankincense to be a really gentle and all purpose oil even for really young animals and humans, but when I actually read what Melissa Shelton, a holistic vet, wrote about the oil, I was blown away!
Here are some excerpts for you!
“Frankincense has been used in newborns of every species, even when they are only minutes old. We have literally had Frankincense on the towels and hands of those who are handed a puppy from a C-Section procedure – making Frankincense one of the first things that are exposed to once they are removed from their mother’s womb… If it is a baby of any sort, Frankincense should be included in its life!”
And if you think that Frankincense is only for babies… think again.
