HUSTLE
This post is contributed by One Drop business manager – Kaye Ng.
It hasn’t been an easy year for me. Its been a year of much growth and learning. Stepping out of my comfort zone to do what I need to do – pulling up my little girl panties to get big girl work done.
Its been a journey on learning how to do the necessary despite the major self resistance. Learning how to get past my own mental blocks to support others and to build relations. YES! it is tiring – I wont deny that, but it is also ultra rewarding. I know my journey has just started and I have tons more to learn.
The other day while feeling tired and uninspired to hustle, I decided to take out some of the YL oils to get my ass on fire.
Oils like: Light the Fire | Motivation | Believe | Build Your Dream | Highest Potential | Envision
I also remembered a blend that Kai introduced me to. Its called the momentum blend. I couldn’t remember the recipe so I quickly googled it and found alot more blends of the like which u could do to totally get your ass going! #girlbossmodeon
So lets take a step step back. How does applying some oils affect the way you work, or supposedly get you motivated? I know many people may start rolling their eyes now, but follow me here as I go through some common scents which you are probably already familiar with.
Ever smelt a bottle of Peppermint? Smelling peppermint def makes you feel alert! How about lavender? It makes you feel all relaxed and sleepy right? Lemon and Orange? They make you feel refreshed! Similarly, just like how these oils make you feel awake or refreshed, these oil blends have been formulated to help one feel more motivated or inspired.
In a very very simple explanation, oils when inhaled, travel up to your brain and signal different reactions in your body. Some can affect hormones, others mood or even organ function.

SLIQUE SHAKE
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
I actually started taking Slique Shake since last year, which is even before the products came to Singapore! And why was I so eager to start on it that I do not mind the shipping charges from US? Why was I so eager to start that I could not wait for the product to come into Singapore???
Haha…well, I actually saw 2 friends who not only lose weight but looked fitter, healthier and more alert! I know one of them was training for marathon but the weight loss was really really nice and she don’t look like She-hulk from all that training. You know what I mean. 😀 So I pestered them for their secret! They were both really generous gave me just one answer: Slique Shake!
Ahh…and that’s all. I know they still exercise and stuff like that but they were looking good. And thus I refused to wait and started ordering Slique Shake from US…I didn’t like the taste initially until I discovered that adding just 30ml of Ningxia Red to the shake concoction made a world of difference~
And I am more assured that Slique Shake is working it’s ‘magic’ on me when I bumped into an old acquaintance just the other day and she said…ok not just 1 mind you…its like 3-4 of them and they will go like.…”Oh RANNA (or Heidi Mama)! I didn’t recognize you! You lose weight and you looked better now!”
I am not Teochew so I am not being haolian…hahaha…I just didn’t realise that my regime had given me result until those people started telling me so!
And this is how I use Slique Shake.
I followed this Slique Kit Regime which I modified a bit to fit my lifestyle:
Breakfast
2 caps Omegagize
Slique Shake Meal Replacement + Ningxia Red 30ml

Then 1 cap of Life9 at night before I retire for the day.

The key ingredients are: pea protein, quinoa, wolfberry, pumpkin seed protein, alfalfa grass juice and naturally derived B vitamins including natural folate.
And other than 1 min plank and my daily chores, I did not really work out or run a marathon or anything…but yet I am getting feedback that I am looking slimmer, fitter and definitely more refreshed. It’s not hard to shine when you are glowing inside out.
That’s the power of using the right product rightly and also having the intention to improve your life!

GOAL SETTING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
This post is contributed by One Drop business manager – Kaye Ng
There is something abt the YL community, or perhaps its age – I never used to care so much about goals, planning, milestones and what I wanted to achieve.
But since starting with YL, building a my own business and being with like minded friends, Ive come to realize how important it is to set the tone right for the year.
Im really excited to start the year, and I have a few goals I have set for myself in the areas of business, finance, relationship and health.
Just as I was setting my goals and starting to track my progress, I saw this post from YL and I thought it was a really good one. So here I am sharing it with some other inputs from myself. heh 😛
POST:
Essential oils can be a great tool to help you envision, create, and achieve your goals.
Whether it’s losing weight, saving more money, or growing your business, only eight percent of people achieve their New Year’s goals!
The primary reason people do not accomplish their resolutions is that they do not know HOW to set the right goals and create a plan to achieve them.
As you set your goals, use essential oils to help foster a creative environment and bring you to place of positivity, abundance, and openness to receiving prosperity.
Aromas have a profound impact in your mind. The sense of smell is the only one of your senses that has a direct connection to the limbic lobe of your brain. The limbic system is made of structures that play a major role in mood, memory, behavior, and emotion. Knowing this helps us understand why smell plays such an important role in memory, thought processes, mood, perception, and emotions.
The sense of smell is closely linked with memory. A fragrance can evoke memories and emotions before we are consciously aware of it. You may even be able to think of smells that trigger particular memories such as homemade bread or fresh-cut grass.
A number of studies have shown that smells trigger more intense and vivid emotional memories and are better at triggering that feeling of “being brought back in time” than images.
How can this help when setting and sticking to your New Year’s resolutions? Specific scents can help you bring back your intentions, remember why you started, and stay motivated. Aromas can also help you overcome false beliefs and negative or defeating thoughts about yourself.
Using essential oils as you set your goals:
Step 1: Create a smart goal.
Use Envision EO as you are thinking about what goals you want to achieve.
Envision:
Envision stimulates creativity and resourcefulness and helps encourage renewed faith in the future, as well as maintaining the fortitude necessary to achieve goals. It is a blend of Spruce, Geranium, Orange, Lavender, Sage, and Rose essential oils. Envision helps awaken and renew that drive to overcome fear and begin experiencing new, more rewarding dimensions.
Place a drop or two in the palms of your hands, rub together, then cup over your nose and inhale. As you read my goals, slowly inhale the refreshing aroma and feel a sense of empowerment to achieve them.
Step 2: Review your goals each morning while mediating, pondering, or saying affirmations.
Use Abundance as you state your affirmations or review your goals each morning. The wonderful aroma of Abundance can help you create a positive environment!
Abundance:
Abundance combines oils such as Orange and Ginger, which were used by ancient cultures to attract prosperity and magnify joy and peace. This blend contains Orange, Frankincense, Patchouli, Clove, Ginger, Myrrh, Cinnamon, and Black Spruce.
Step 3: Remind yourself why started when you experience setbacks.
Use Joy essential oil if you start to feel discouraged or when you need an extra boost of confidence in yourself! Joy creates a joyful and happy aromatic experience when applied to the wrists or heart. It also produces an aroma that brings feelings of joy to the heart, mind, and soul. Setbacks will happen to everyone, and it is important to keep yourself in a positive frame of mind.
Joy:
Joy is a combination of floral and citrus essential oils, including Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Rose, Bergamot, Lemon, and Tangerine. It has the ability to uplift and inspire a positive outlook.
Step 4: Take action!
Apply En-R-Gee or Motivation to your wrists and the bottoms of your feet, determine the single most important action to take today in order to achieve your aim, and then go for it! Once the planning, visualizing, and goal setting has been done, the make-it-or-break-it moment of truth comes in using that preparation and motivation to propel you into action. Even the smallest action can begin the momentum, and small actions consistently over time will yield success.
En-R-Gee:
Is a blend that offers an invigorating aromatic boost when you need it most. Enjoy the stimulating, spicy-pine fragrance of Rosemary, Juniper, Lemongrass, Nutmeg, Balsam Fir, Clove, and Black Pepper essential oils.
Motivation:
This powerful blend combines Roman Chamomile, Black Spruce, Ylang Ylang and Lavender. The powerful scent of Motivation may promote feelings of action and accomplishment when diffused.
Another great way to keep yourself accountable is sharing your goals with a supportive friend or community.
Here are some other oils that I have found which you can use for motivation and the new year:
- Frankincense Essential Oil
This is the oil to use to erase your fear of failing your New Year’s resolutions! Frankincense is also said to encourage creativity, concentration and inspiration. It’s the ultimate essential oil to help you to conquer your New Year’s resolutions!
- Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon helps to rejuvenate the mind and to promote clear thinking. It is also a great scent to increase alertness! You can use lemon to help stick with your New Year’s resolutions!
- Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint is a very invigorating oil – use it to help you think more clearly and to focus on what you want to accomplish! Diffuse it or apply to the back of your neck to feel revitalized.
Peppermint is also said to help you to have an open mind to receive new ideas – perfect for the new year!
- Sandalwood Essential Oil
Sandalwood is a very grounding oil, in that it is said to help you to stay focused. That would probably make it a great oil to diffuse while making your New Year’s resolutions list! It is also said to help reduce indecision so that you can stay firm in your resolutions!
- Clarity Essential Oil
Clarity invites a sense of clarity and alertness, this is a good choice to diffuse when writing your resolutions.
- Build Your Dream Essential Oil
This blend gives you feelings of empowerment to help you find the way to achieve your dreams. Another one to use while pondering and developing your goals!
- Magnify Your Purpose
Use this blend to give you an extra kick! It invites feelings of creativity, desire, and motivation, encouraging you to seize initiative. Cup this over my nose and inhale as well as to diffuse esp when you are feeling in a slump!
Give these oils a try! You never know but you might just feel more empowered and resolute in the new year!

STARTING SCHOOL WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
This post is contributed by One Drop business manager – Kaye Ng
So as many of you know, I have one precious daughter at home. Its been an incredulous journey being her mom and as 2019 rolls around, we (both me and her) start a new chapter – primary school.
In fact packing her bag today, it felt as if I was the one who was going to school not her. I’m excited, worried, nervous, sad – WHERE DID THE TIME GO? Has my baby really grown up all so fast?
Ive gotten all her items labeled, planned her snack box, packed her bag, told her over and over again what to do in school, so now its just left to slather her with oils in the morning. This is what I have planned for tomorrow morning:
1. Valor: Over our hearts, for both me and her to feel grounded and courageous as we go into a totally new environment.
2. Peppermint: A little to the back of the neck – a perk me up because she has never ever woken up so early in the morning to go to school.
3. Thieves: To the bottom of the feet to get rid of all the nasties she might be picking up at school!
4. Brain Power: Tons of this to the brain stem to help her remember whatever she needs to remember. Hopefully enough to come back home to tell me the right things! haha 😛
5. Grounding: Diffusing this in the morning while we have breakfast so that she wont be overly excited and all flouncy in school.
These are my top 5 oils for tomorrow, but here are some others you can use for the first day back to school:
Bravery and Grounding: Valor, Grounding, Peace and Calming, Orange, Tranquil, Believe, Sacred Mountain.
Memory and Studies: Brain Power, Rosemary, Highest Potential, Clarity, Frankincense, Motivation, Sandalwood, Peppermint
Immunity and Health: Thieves, Immupower, Oregano, Melissa, Purification, Tea Tree
Last but not least a super important one for her to drink in the morning before she heads off:
NINGXIA RED!
Here is why it is super good even for kiddos:
- It is a whole-body nutrient for health and wellness.
- It is helpful for energy support.
- It supports normal cellular function which is super important for kids as they are still GROWING!
- It contains powerful ingredients that are involved in many natural antioxidant processes.
- It supports normal eye health – no glasses please!
- It contains citrus essential oils containing d-limonene which are SUPER IMPORTANT and beneficial for the body! Go google its benefits ok!
There are tons of benefits of NXR, here is a quick graphic on NXR if you are interested to find out more:
So now I’m all ready and the kiddo is ready for school! Hope you mothers out there are ready too!

WHAT TIME IS IT?
USING THE MERIDAN CLOCK FOR THE JET SETTER
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Cherie Tseng.
Anyone who has traveled to a different time zone would have experienced the bane of all travellers: Jet Lag. For a long time, jet lag was put down to a “messed up state of mind” but studies have now shown that it results from an imbalance in our body’s circadian rhythm, our natural biological sleep clock that are impacted by the natural rise and fall of body temperature, plasma, hormonal levels and other bio-markers. In addition, it is further impacted by our exposure to sunlight and help determine when we sleep and wake.
As we travel across time zones, our circadian rhythm cannot keep up with rate of time change. In fourteen hours, a plane could take us to a country over eight hours behind your home country. Our circadian rhythm usually takes several days to adjust so most of us find that our sleep cycle gets all messed up with our body wanting to sleep because it is night in our home country despite it being in the middle of the afternoon where you may have travelled to.
In broad-strokes, we have 14 meridians, energetic pathways that run, literally like clockwork if all things are balanced. The primary two are known as the Central and Governing Meridian and are also known as centreline meridians and do not exist on the clock. The meridian clock comprises the other 12 meridians that corresponding to various organs in the body. One’s Qi moves through the 12 Meridians and do so in a precise manner, flowing one into the other — in its ideal state, at a “healthy” time for each. A full cycle takes 24 hours.
If we consider the flow from the break of day at two hour intervals, we begin with the Large Intestine at 5am, Stomach Meridian, Spleen Meridian then Heart Meridian that takes us through noon to 1pm. The flow moves to the Small Intestine Meridian at 1pm, Bladder Meridian at 3pm and the Kidney Meridian takes us to Sundown, running 5-7pm. Then we move to the Pericardium Meridian at 7pm, Triple Warmer Meridian which takes us from 9pm- 11pm and the Gall Bladder Meridian closes out at night, ending at 1am. The Liver Meridian takes center-stage at from 1-3am, and then the Lung Meridian takes us to dawn, 3am- 5am.
Jet lag is largely a modern issue and Traditional Chinese Medicine never included a module for the treatment for it. The application of acupressure and meridian studies to alleviate jet lag is the work of modern day practitioners of the meridian clock. Attributed to Dr. Amaro from the USA, who conducted studies on travellers over 12 years using specific acupressure points across the meridian clock with an impressive 96% success rate where travellers felt well adjusted at destination. For his placebo, he allotted false meridian points and those in the control group suffered jet lag. He called this the Horary cycle.
Diagram extracted from Dr. Amaro’s paper
Dr. Amaro’s overview paper can be found here:
The Horary cycle has, at the core of its ethos, that each meridian has a main acupressure point that goes through a two-hour peak activation in a given 24 hour timeframe. The theory states that the stimulation of the meridian that corresponds with destination time will help the body clock reset accordingly. To put it simply, you are tuning your body clock to the time of your final destination by stimulating the corresponding meridian of the destination time.
For example, flying from Singapore to London (-8hrs behind), you would stimulate the meridian vis-à-vis the main acupressure point of the meridian 8hrs behind the current time. If you flight arrives leaving Singapore arrives London at 4pm, you would stimulate the bladder meridian that peaks between 3-5pm.
You should hold the acupressure point for about two minutes ON EACH SIDE and it is also recommended that you reset your watch to the time of your destination before take off. Where possible, repeat this every 2-3 hours and for 2-3 hours upon arrival. You should do the same on your return leg to tune back.
The following diagram (credit Ms. Mary Golob) collates the meridian and time with the corresponding acupressure point with descriptions to locations that lends further clarity to travellers who want to beat that dreaded jet lag!
While the acupressure points are often good enough, you can add essential oils for a boost: Cedarwood, Lavender, Geranium, Bergamot and Roman Chamomile are fabulous addition to any of the Horary protocols you see here. An easy way is to make a take-along jet leg blend of Cedarwood + Lavender + V6 in a roller bottle. When you land, a Grapefruit + Bergamot face spritz is a fabulous way to get your system to tune up. Also, it smells glorious.
