SUPPORT YOUR FRONT LINE – LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system and a vital part of your immune system! The more famous organs of the lymphatic system are your: thymus, spleen, tonsils and your appendix.
Wow…did you notice that these are the organs that are usually removed…appendix…tonsils..thymus. And that’s because they are our body’s first line of defence internally. (in my layman understanding,..not a doctor :P)
I mentioned in one of my previous blog entry about sleep that I slept soooo much better after taking Grapefruit Vitality. Even my Chinese sinseh said my pulse reading was so much better. So I looked up on Grapefruit in our Essential Oil Pocket Reference and it stated that Grapefruit…grasp! Was a cross between orange and pomelo!!! When it was discovered, it was called the “forbidden fruit”. My oh my!!! The Romeo and Juliet of the Citrus fruits…scandalous~~~….I digressed…so sorry…back to topic…
Grapefruit (forbidden fruit…tehehehe…ahem….) was rich in limone and its detoxifying, diuretic, fat-dissolving and cleansing for the lymphatic and vascular system!
Wow…no wonder I felt so much better after that. My tummy also went down quite a bit…not bad for someone not hot about exercising. 😀
So it is very important to me to take care of my lymphatic system. I wanna stay young and beautiful~ plus I did some googling and I saw some sharing by Kai Tan and Frances Fuller about this technique called Dry Brushing.
Dry Brushing is a way to stimulate your lymphatic system and also helps eliminate toxins that are trapped or clogged your skin pores. It was recommended by the Finnish doctor – Dr. Paavo Airola for his patients 30 years ago. The Russians, Turks and Scandinavians have used this treatment for centuries.
Benefits of Dry Brushing included:
- Removes cellulite
- Cleanses the lymphatic system
- Removes dead skin layers
- Strengthens the immune system
- Stimulates the hormone and oil-producing glands
- Tightens the skin preventing premature aging
- Tones the muscles
- Stimulates circulation
- Improves the function of the nervous system
- Helps digestion
To get started, follow the simple steps below:
- Purchase a natural (not synthetic) bristle brush with a long handle so it’s easier to reach all areas of your body. (I got my brush from Taobao, but locally you can check out BodyShop, Tokyu Hands or Muji too)
- Get naked and stand in a bathtub or tiled surface to catch the falling skin. (It’s a bit gross, I know.)
- Begin brushing by starting at your feet and moving in long sweeping motions toward your heart. Always brush toward your heart. *Refer attached image for drybrush direction.
- Brush several times in each area, overlapping as you go.
- Take care as you brush over more sensitive areas, like breasts. Your skin will become less sensitive the more you drybrush.
- Once you’ve brushed your entire body, jump in the shower. (I like to alternate between the hottest water temperature I can tolerate and the coldest. This helps to stimulate blood circulation, bringing more blood to the top layers of the skin.)
- After getting out of the shower, pat dry skin and apply *Cel-Lite Magic Massage Oil all over.
- Try this for 30 days and see the results for yourself!
Continue to dry brush your entire body every day. Twice a day is recommended for best results. Remember to clean your brush with soap and water once a week. Leave to dry in a clean, sunny spot to avoid any mildew accumulation on your brush.
Drybrush in the morning for a fresher day if you have time in the morning.
Why I chose Cel-Lite Magic Massage Oil after dry brushing?
Cel-Lite Magic™ Massage Oil tones and nourishes the skin with pure vegetable oils, vitamin E, and authentic essential oils. Grapefruit oil improves the appearance of skin texture, while Juniper oil helps cleanse.
But if you will like to DIY your own lymphatic support oil, here are the list of recommended oils you can use to mix and match with V6 to do your own blend:
- Myrtle
- Grapefruit
- Lemongrass
- Tangerine
- Orange
- Rosemary
- Cypress
- Juniper
- Hyssop
- Myrrh
- DiGize
- Aroma Life
- En-R-Gee
- Citrus Fresh
- Ledum
So what I will do is…If Young Living ever sold out of Cel-lite Magic Oil, I will do the following:
- Take a 100ml bottle
- 10 drops Cypress
- 10 drops Grapefruit
- 5 drops Juniper
- Top up the bottle with V6 and viola~
Supplements such as Digest & Cleanse, Longevity, Omegagize, MultiGreen (US only) and Master Formula are great for supporting your body systems on a regular basis too. Do look them up when you are planning your next ER order.
Have fun and take care of your ‘front line’!

INCREASING INTELLIGENCE
This post is contributed by One Drop’s Founder – Sheena Ling.
Our brain does not work in a linear fashion, but we act like it does. And that’s detrimental and slows down learning. Let me explain.
I was sitting at Starbucks recently and there was this mother and son at the next table. The son was trying to finish his tuition homework before going home.
Son: “I dunno how to do… I very tired..”
Mother: “Quick do. Later you must show your tuition teacher.”
Son: starts sighing and running his hand through his hair in exasperation
Mother: “Do your work properly if not cannot pass exams then you know”
Son: “But i cannot think… I still have alot I dunno how to do… I feel very tired…”
Mother: “You put aside how you feel first. Finish your homework already then later it will feel ok.”
We hear that frequently don’t we? We either tell that to ourselves or others – “Put your emotions aside first. Solve this problem logically then we address the emotions”. First of all, we very often forget to address the stress and emotions. Secondly, according to neurosciences, we physiologically cannot do that.
We have 3 main functions of the brain when it comes to learning. The logical (neocortex), the emotional (limbic system) and the primal instincts (reptilian brain in charge of fight/flight responses). We act like these 3 functions are 3 different switches that we can switch on and off at will. But in fact, it doesn’t. Our logical, emotional and primal minds work together, all the time.
The bad news around it, is that everytime we attempt to switch our emotions off by numbing or avoiding it, we will indirectly numb the capacity of our logical brain too.
The great news about this, is that, when we learn to address the needs of our negative emotions (e.g. feeling overwhelmed) and turn them into positive ones (e.g. feeling understood and believed in), it will automatically increase the logical mind’s capacity to learn, understand and retain information.
As we learn to address certain recurring emotions on a conversational level with our kids/students/colleagues even, on a cellular level, we can support that conversation using the essential oils.
Addressing emotions (especialy the negative ones) are not the easiest due to certain beliefs we have around them, for example, expressing sadness equates to one being weak. These beliefs stop us from 1. Acknowledging that emotions are valuable, 2. Fully experiencing those emotions and, 3. Addressing the root causes of those emotions. Essential oils come in highly effective in this case when inhaled because our sense of smell, out of the five senses that we have, is the only one that activates and recalibrates the emotional parts of the brain directly without any of those beliefs and filters.
Any oils used for emotional needs, should then preferably be diffused or applied on areas (like the chest area) where the spread out oils can be inhaled.
Below are some of the oils I personally like to use for the different emotional needs, either for myself or on others.
To facilitate any emotional release

The reasons behind why certain oils are chosen for certain emotions, stem from certain psychological and neuroscientific researches. Drop me a note should you want to enquire more about it.

HOW I USE OILS WITH ART
This post is contributed by One Drop Member – Wendy Wong.
Many of us have different ways of releasing stress and expressing how we feel. Some exercise, others meditate. I use a combination of essential oils and art.
How do I do it?
My way of releasing stress and finding answers when I feel stuck is through drawing my way out. Literally.
By 1st using essential oils to activate my sense of smell, to have me in touch with how I am feeling at that point in time, and then I draw.
Through this process, I am able to express what has been internalised; when no words could describe. It has also provided me with the peace and serenity after each drawing and this process has helped me along the way whenever I needed to find answers to what I am seeking.
You may wonder how I combine these 2 modalities. I usually use one or a few oils.
Some of the oils I have used are: Stressaway, Present Time, Harmony and Forgiveness. Or sometimes I just reach into my oil bag and allow my hand to choose.
I inhale each of the scents, allowing my body to take in the benefits of each of the oils; breathing in deeply.
Then, whatever images, colours or shapes that comes to mind, I draw them out using my art materials.
After I complete my drawing/s, I give myself some time to make sense of it. This may be a few minutes of studying the drawing, or even setting the drawing aside for a few hours or days to reflect on it later. The key is to enjoy the artwork and the process of self-discovery.
Interestingly, for me, the words come easier after I draw, allowing me then to explore and express what emotions I am feeling at that point in time.
For any of you keen to try this process, you may start with your favourite singles or blends. Inhale your oils deeply. Allow your body to experience any images, visuals or emotions that you may feel.
Then you can express them using papers and colours. Oil pastels are a good choice to start with as you can play with each texture of the colours. Colour pencils, markers, water colour, etc are media you can use as well.
Most importantly, be gentle with yourself in the process and have fun!

Orange Infused Choc Chip Cookies
This post is contributed by One Drop Business Manager – Kaye Ng.
With the festivities around the corner, its time to bake and indulge! hahaha 😝 At least, when the year end rolls by, I feel more like martha and feel inspired to get dirty in the kitchen. So off I went to bake some choc chip cookies with my little monster.
THEY WERE DIVINE and SUPER YUMMY! 😛
I took the recipe off this website. I’m super impressed by this young local NS boy from Singapore with a passion for baking. His recipes are well tested and easy to follow. Every time I bake using his recipes, I find my end results very delicious! Esp for an amateur baker like me, its rewarding to be able to follow a recipe blindly and get yummy goods at the end. 🙂
So, anyway, I baked his choc chip cookies 🍪 and added in a couple of drops of orange essential oil 🍊 to give it a tinge of a christmas-y edge. LOVE MAX. 😍
Here’s the recipe:

4. Add in the vanilla extract, salt and baking soda and stir until well mixed.
5. Stir in the flour and the chocolate chips until just combined. Stop when there are no more lumps of flour.
6. Drop in the orange vitality essential oil and stir until combined.
