DIY FOR MOTHER’S DAY
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
Mother’s Day just around the corner and I’ve been wondering what will be a great gift to give our dear mothers.
Sure, you can just head over to Young Living and do your ER and grab a ART Skincare Series, the Wolfberry Eye Cream, or a set of Savvy Minerals Make Up for your mom.
But why not up the fun factor by hosting a class for your mom and her friends and their daughters in the name of Mother’s Day? A great opportunity to share about the oils too!
So here are some of my ideas for DIY:
1) DIY Scar-B-Gone Blend
This blend is good for old scars, new scar, acne scar…apply 3-4 times a day.

- Lemongrass x 8 drops
- Patchouli x 4 drops
- Myrrh x 5 drops
- Top up with V6
2) Skin Firming Blends
Sagging skin is a common problem for many people as they get older. It occurs as the skin loses its elasticity over time. Neck, under arm, tummy, thigh…these are the areas we want to support.
So here are 2 blends to apply on the skin to help firm up the skin.
Use the morning blend before dressing in the morning and the evening blend before bed at night.
Strength training with weights can also help tightened sagging skin.

Top up with Cel-lite Magic Oil in a 15ml dropper bottle.
Morning blend to breakdown the fatty tissues and Evening blend to rejuvenate and nourish.
3) Wrinkle Reducing Blend

- Sacred Frankincense or Frankincense x 6 drops

- Geranium x 4 drops
- Lavender x 3 drops
- Mix the oils to Kidscent lotion in a 25ml jar.
4) DIY YL Revitalizing Foot Scrub – Peppermint Essential Oil & Honey

NEW OILS FROM DOWN UNDER
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
Young Living had been busy in Australia. So it is time to flash some highlights on some of our newest oils from Down Under!
Australian Ericifolia (single oil)
Was launched on 6th April 2019 during LYPR.
Facts from Young Living’s Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Buch
This oil, also knownas Rosalina or Lavender Tea Tree, is from another unique tree native to south-eastern Australia and Tasmania. The ancient people of this region used the plant in medicines and they also used the flowers to make a tea with a calming aroma. Our oil is steam distilled from the Melaleuca ericifolia tree leaves. A local name for this tree is the swamp paperback, because it tends to grow in very wet areas and the bark resembles paper. The essential oil contains linalool, 1,8 cineole (eucalyptol), alpha pinene, gamma terpinene, and aromadendrene to name a few. This unique collection of constituents provides an oil with properties similar to Tea Tree combined with Lavender. Australian Ericifolia oil has a lemon-like, somewhat floral fragrance that is (I think) fresher than Tea Tree oil. This oil tends to be calming (like lavender), and it also has the respiratory and skin benefits of Tea Tree and Eucalyptus globulus oils, with a distinctly different aroma. This oil blends nicely with lemon, lavender, and other essential oils that are somewhat “herbaceous”. It’s another unique single to keep in your arsenal!

Kunzea (single oil)
(launched last year during APAC on 12 March 2018)
Facts from Young Living’s Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Buch
A farmer in Tazmania where Kunzea grows wild, noticed that his fences wasn’t rusting when the fence was strung through the kunzea bushes. And fences are always rusting severely everywhere else. And that’s a strong indication that kunzea has a lot of antioxidant in it. Cos rust is just natural oxidation. That made him looked at kunzea and began to extract the oil.
Actually, the native aboriginals, about a few thousand years before the farmer already noticed, that when they slept under the kunzea bush, they don’t get any insect bites. That’s why the local name for Kunzea right now is ‘Tick bush’ in Tazmania.
One more thing the native aboriginals noticed is that when they rub kunzea on their skin, it really helped with sore muscles
It’s wonderful for sore muscles and for skin – it really helps with the appearance of blemishes.
What made the Kunzea so special?
It is very high in many compounds that we see in many oils. For example, it is high in Alpha-pinene that is found in Pine oil. It has 1,8 Cineole (Eucalyptol) which is found in eucalyptus oilIt also has a compound called Berita Flora that is also found in Peppermint and Sacred Frankincense. It also contains Bicyclogermacrane that is found in both Oregano and Hyssop.
It is also very high in alpha terpineol which is a fragrance very similar to lilac.
So, imagine a pure essential oil that contains the key components of Pine, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Sacred Frankincense, Oregano and Hyssop, all with a hint of Lilac. Kunzea is one of nature’s miracle. It’s almost as if this plant knows how to blend its own oils. It’s Dr Michael’s favorite oil now.
Benefits included:
- Helps soothe fatigued muscles
- Reduces the appearance of blemishes
- Purifies the air from unwanted odors

Manuka (single oil)
I wanted to skip this oil since it had been released a couple of years ago but haiz…one does not talk about Australian oils without talking about Manuka! I was pleasantly surprised when my husband asked me what did I put on that’s smelling so nice? Now…you have to understand my thrill because he is sensitive to scent and this is like the first and only oil he said NICE!
With a warm, gentle fragrance and numerous skin care benefits, Manuka essential oil is the perfect addition to your daily wellness and beauty regimen. (I will add it to my pure honey to get Manuka honey!) Add it to your favorite skin care products to support the appearance of healthy-looking skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes. (I am fine with applying it neat on my face as the oil is thick like Myrrh)
You can also enjoy its sweet aroma by diffusing it, adding it to household cleaners, and massaging it into tired feet. Manuka includes the naturally occurring constituents leptospermone, copaene, and isoleptopsermone.
Benefits Included:
- Has a warm, calming aroma
- Is cleansing and soothing when applied topically
- Reduces the appearance of blemishes and supports the appearance of heathy-looking skin
- Can be applied to feet or toenails to keep them looking healthy
Hope you’ve enjoyed this article and our new oils.

BEAUTY TIME LAPSE
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
About this Blog and Rose Quartz
I was inspired to put this blog together because of the rose quartz guasha and roller I got, and I am making plans to incorporate them into my beauty ritual. I was amazed to find out that rose quartz beauty rituals are not a new concept in the wellness world. It’s said that Cleopatra bathed with chunks of rose quartz, harnessing its wonderfully healing and anti-aging benefits. The rose quartz is a powerful healing crystal that emits a soothing vibration, making it a powerful tool to relieve tension and promote physical healing, rejuvenating the skin.
And it is said that if you’re prone to acne or are experiencing the onset of wrinkles, ancient legends suggest rolling a rose quartz stone over your face to reverse these negative effects on your skin. Stories have been told that Egyptian goddesses would gather tumbled rose quartz crystals by the Nile river, giving themselves a crystal facial to maintain their youthful complexions. Insist on massaging your face with your rose quartz beauty stone after your skincare regime may smooth out fine lines and reduce signs of aging.
About the Ancient Art of GuaSha
Here are some benefits of Gua Sha Facial:
- Enhances absorption ability for skin care and makeup products
- Detoxifies skin
- Promotes a healthy and younger looking skin
- Promotes blood circulation
- Improve skin cells growth and renewal
- Reduce double chin
- Helps to tone the face, ironing out fine line and wrinkles
- Release of stress
- Removes dark circles/eye bags / puffy eyes
- Uneven skin tone improved
GuaSha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that worked on the skin and indirectly on the governing pressure points to stimulate blood flow and ‘qi’ or meridian flow. It is a technique for anyone with vegetable oil and a guasha plate as it requires less precision than needle acupuncture. You do not need a therapist to guasha for you even though it is very therapeutic and relaxing to have someone assisting you.
Now that you have an idea on the benefits of rose quartz and guasha, here’s a guide on how to use your rose quartz roller:
To make the guasha more fun, you can do a DIY Beauty Time Lapse Facial Oil with the following:
In a 10ml dropper bottle (I bought mine from Life Science Publishing Singapore)
Put the following –
- 10 drops Frankincense or Sacred Frankincense
- 10 drops Sandalwood
- 10 drops Geranium
- Top it up with V6 (be careful not to go too full or once you put the top with the dropper in, the volume goes up and may overflow)
So, every time after you cleanse and tone your face, put a bit of your DIY Beauty Time Lapse Facial Oil, pat them on your face and start your rolling~
Note: Please feel free to replace Geranium with other flower oils of your choice such as Patchouli, Lavender, Manuka, or Blue Tansy (if you are up for the challenge)
Supplement Your Skin: Young Living Super C
Young Living SuperC not only delivers powerful antioxidant but the very fact that it is a source of vitamin C already called for its importance.
The role of vitamin C in the production of collagen is to interact with amino acids within collagen cells. It adds hydrogen and oxygen to those amino acids, so that they may do their part in collagen production. If you don’t get the proper amount of vitamin C, collagen production will slow. A decline in collagen production will not only make skin more susceptible to wrinkles, but it might also make it more susceptible to bruising.
Collagen keeps our skin firm and resilient, protecting it from wrinkling. And we need our vitamin C to make sure they are producing well!
Toxic Skincare Ingredients to Avoid
And finally, you have to know what are you putting on your skin and what you should set a red flag on. I’ve had friends who put 100% pure essential oils in their moisturiser with ingredients from the list below. How do you think that works? It’s a battle of good vs evil! You shouldn’t even put those things on your face! Let alone guasha them deeper into your system. So here’s a very surface list of what to avoid (they keep renaming those things so we have to stay updated as well):
Parabens – can mimic estrogen in the body disrupting our delicate hormonal balance. They’ve been linked to breast cancer, and since they act as a hormone disruptor they can lead to reproductive and fertility issues.
Most Commonly Found In: face cleanser, body wash, body lotion, foundation, shampoo
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and/or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are known to cause skin irritation and trigger different allergies.
Most Commonly Found In: shampoo, body wash, bubble bath
Phthalate – group of chemicals used to soften and increase the flexibility of plastics in cosmetics. This helps products stick to our skin. Serious endocrine disruptors and can even cause birth defects.
Most Commonly Found In: deodorant, lotion, fragrance & hair spray
BHT – these are synthetic antioxidants that are used to extend shelf life and are likely carcinogens and hormone disruptors that may cause liver damage.
Most Commonly Found In: lipsticks, moisturizers, diaper creams, and other cosmetics
Lead – heavy metal and is a neurotoxin. Can cause behavioral and learning problem.
Most Commonly Found In: lipstick, lip gloss
Retinyl palmitate and Retinol – it may damage DNA and speed the growth of skin tumors when used on your skin. Formaldehyde – used to preserve dead animals. A known carcinogen that is also linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, and developmental toxicity.
Most Commonly Found In: moisturiser, anti-aging skincare
I am so glad I’ve switched my skincare to Young Living’s ART series and I’ve also got my rose quartz roller and guasha board. A good skincare regime is important too. Do also take note to take care of your scalp too. You can check out Elaine’s blog here.
And pairing the beauty tools with the power of essential oils certainly put the icing on the cake~

BABY BLUES
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
What to do when you have Baby Blues?
One of the key things that improves for me after I started my oiling journey was that I was finally able to have a proper deep sleep AFTER 4 YEARS from having my baby. My gawd! I finally realised that for the past 4 years before I started using the oils, I was constantly in a very light sleep mode. I will wake up in the middle of my sleep, several times in fact, just to check if my baby was breathing. And any little sound she made in her sleep, my eyes will shot wide open and I will rush to check on her! And after making sure that everything is fine, I will try to go back to sleep…BUT that’s when the day has broke and the baby is ready to stir from her sleep for milk or something.
Verdict: I was not sleeping properly at all!
My work performance was affected. My concentration dipped. My priorities were all over the place. I was scattered-brained and I couldn’t focus at all. It was terrible. I was also getting very bad gastric and sinus problem. And I did not realize how bad it was because I was too caught up in parenting my baby.
I coped by talking a lot to my baby (that’s when I realised the value of early infant stimulation because my baby picked up new languages super-fast. You need only say it to her once and she can repeat the word to you very accurately. She’s currently trying to learn to speak Hokkien from me.) I also received support emotionally from my church’s counsellor and friends who are mothers. My saving phrase was by my friend, Samantha.
She said, “Just take it easy.”
Those 4 words really helped me. And it worked also because I was consciously looking for help.
It was finally in 2014 when my daughter was 4 years old that my colleagues, Julie and Joanne, introduced me to Young Living Essential Oils. As my daughter was attending childcare at that time, they recommended that I get Thieves and Peppermint first. The oils smelled and felt good to use. I saw how well the oils worked for my daughter, so I decided to get an oil for myself too. I wanted to get rid of my postpartum tummy and try something for weight loss. And so, the next oil I was recommended and bought was Grapefruit Vitality. I started adding 5 to 8 drops of grapefruit into my drinking water every day at work. And…before the tummy was gone…something happened to me! I realised that I was sleeping better and better. In fact, I can finally sleep through the night! You know how mothers are obsessed with babies sleeping through the night? That’s the same amount of exhilaration I felt for myself when Is slept through the night too! And for the first time in 4 years! Wow! I did not do anything different except added Grapefruit essential oil to my drink!
Another contributing factor could be that since I have the oils to support, and I am not so concerned about my daughter falling sick and getting a fever in the middle of the night, so I was finally able to rest my mind and fall asleep soundly. The oils again! 🙂
So that was how I came about to oiling and my close shave with baby blues.
I witnessed my friend having a more severe case of “baby blues”. It was so bad that she did not want the baby. She wanted to go back to the time when the baby do not exist. She was tearing but she don’t feel anything in her heart. That got me alarmed because she love her baby a lot a lot. Before baby was born, she was already drawing up plans and reading all the books on parenting. It was really worrisome to see her in that stage and all her emotions blocked up. Her husband spotted it in time, made her cut short her maternity leave, have time away from the baby, and see a psychiatrist. She was taught to cope with emotional tapping. I also passed her some Valor and Stress Away. I do not know what worked for her but she’s back to being one of the most devoted mothers I know! Phew!
My experience with my friend greatly contributed to my passion in becoming an Infant Massage Instructor. I want to support new mothers and infants where the bonding occured during massage can renew the busy mother of feelings of love for their babies. Oh and I also experienced colic which infant massage can help.
So…back to the topic on ‘Baby Blues’. If you spot yourself or your friends having the following symptoms, it is likely you’ve caught the blues too. Read on!
Symptoms of “baby blues” include:
- Weeping or crying for no apparent reason
- Impatience
- Irritability
- Restlessness
- Anxiety
- Fatigue
- Insomnia (even when baby is sleeping)
- Sadness
- Mood changes
- Poor Concentration
Above symptoms are extracted from https://americanpregnancy.org/first-year-of-life/baby-blues/
What causes the “baby blues”?
The exact cause of “baby blues” is unknown. It could be related to hormonal changes during pregnancy before and after a baby is born. Resulting in chemical changes in the brain that result in depression.
It could also be due to lack of sleep as the birth of a new baby calls for a lot of adjustment to the household and particularly the parents’ routine.
It could also be the physical and emotional status change of the mother.
In Dr LeAnne Deardeuff’s book titled “Inner Transformations Using Essential Oils”, Dr LeAnne mentioned that during the last month of development, a foetus requires A LOT of essential fatty acids to develop its brain. If they are not available in the mother’s diet, the baby will pull fatty acids from where they are must readily available, which is the mother’s brain. By increasing fatty acids such as flax seed oil or the omega-3 fish oils, mothers have experienced a decrease in post-partum depression.
Recommended support with oil to prevent “baby blues”:
- Take a drop of Clary Sage and massage around the ankles daily (note this is for soon to be born babies and not before)
- While in labour, increase the Clary Sage to several drops an hour
- As soon as baby is born, use 1 tsp of Progessence cream and then use ½ tsp twice daily for several week. (Apply 2–4 drops of Progessence Plus to the stomach, feet, or inner thighs each day, rotating application sites to avoid applying to the same area 2 days in a row)
- Continue your intake of Omegagize (fatty acids)
- You can take SuperB, Mineral Essence and SuperCal. Those support the adrenal glands and the nervous systems.
- Use oils such as Joy and Peace & Calming Oil Blends to uplift your emotion.
Other Oils for “Baby Blues”
- Vetiver
- Lemon
- Cedarwood
- Sandalwood
- TraumaLife
- Joy
- Stress Away
How to use:
Diffuse 20 minutes, 3 times daily or direct inhalation 2 minutes, 4 times daily.
Diffuse 20 minutes, 3 times daily or direct inhalation 2 minutes, 4 times daily.
Other oils that can be helpful are Valor, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Bergamot, Citrus Fresh, Tranquil Roll-On. I feel that any oils that the person like and enjoy, is already emotionally supportive. I will encourage you to bring any mothers who might be facing baby blues to visit Young Living office and find the oil themselves.
So if you are going through a rough patch and you need to find someone to talk to for support, please do reach out to me or anyone close to you. But the desire to change and improve has to still come from inside you. 🙂

ANTI-BULLYING SOLUTION IN GREAT DAY PROTOCOL
This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.
I was watching this video recently by Brooks Gibbs on Youtube, titled “How to Stop A Bully” (you may catch it here).
I was captivated by the video. It was amazing to me how he ‘disarmed’ the bully. For even if the talk is staged, I am convinced that his methods worked. How can you continue to be mean to someone who’s not only unaffected but turns around and praise you? Wow! That’s very powerful in responding with positivity and turning around all that negativity around.
Towards the end of the clip, Brooks Gibbs talked about the 3 social skills that one needed in order to resist against bullies. They are: 1) Resilience, 2) Emotionally Balanced and 3) Mentally Strong.
Kids who are empowered with those social skills are found to have increased self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth.
But the thing here is…you can’t just do things for the kid or for anyone. He has to do it for himself. But we have to teach the kids about the 3 social skills. As a parent, we have 2 critical roles…1. To use our knowledge to influence our child’s heart and 2. Model the results we hope to see in them. This is definitely NOT easy and can be overwhelming.
And as I listen to Brooks Gibbs, those oils…they just started to appear in my mind. My heart start to beat a little faster and I was getting all excited! I was blown by the oils that came into my mind! They are…TADAH!!! Valor, Harmony, Joy and White Angelica!
Together, they made up Gary’s Great Day Protocol!!!
Oh my! It seems Gary had given us the solution…yet again…all along. In his own ways, so many years ago, to help us pull through tough and unpredictable times. Times that called for us to be RESILENCE more than ever. Times that called for us to be emotionally balanced and stay our cool. Times that called for us to be unaffected by crisis and changes all around us.
What can give you resilience other than courage and strength?
Isn’t that Valor?
Emotionally balance?
Harmony!!!
Mentally Strong? When you feel and know you are protected….when you are doused with the right amount of positivity…nothing can get you down!
Isn’t that in White Angelica and Joy?
One to help you feel protected and the other to fill up that emptiness with Joy and hope.
About the oils Gary selected for this protocol and how to use step-by-step
Step 1 Valor
Balance energies and instil courage, confidence and self-esteem.
How to use: Place 1 drop of Valor or Valor 2 on the inside of your left wrist. Place left wrist over the inside of your right wrist so that the insides of both wrists are touching and hold together for a moment to balance your body .
Option 1 for Step 2: Harmony
Promotes physical and emotional healing by creating a harmonic balance for the energy centres of the body. It brings us into harmony with all things, people and cycles of life.

How to use: Drip a drop or 2 of Harmony into your left palm, and with your right palm, circle the oil 3 times in a clockwise direction. Then you anoint your energy centres (some call it chakra points) from the base chakra up.
Option 2 for Step 2 Highest Potential
Elevates the mind as you gather your thoughts and mental energy to achieve your highest potential. This blend harmonizes several grounding, calming, inspiring and empowering essential into one single blend.Harnessing the uplifting and inspiring power of Blue Cypress and other pure essential oil scents, this blend helps you access and nurture the most profound version of your inner self.

How to use: Place 1 drop of Highest Potential above your belly button to calm your mind and promote positive feelings.
I just learnt from Young Living Canada’s blog here so I am including both oils. For instead of Harmony, they recommended Highest Potential. Either oil is fine too, I find.
Step 3 Joy
This beautiful blend produces a magnetic energy that brings joy to the heart, mind and soul. It inspires romance and helps overcome deep-seated grief.

Step 4 White Angelica
Increases and strengthens the aura around the body to bring a renewed sense of strength and protection, creating a feeling of wholeness. Its frequency neutralizes negative energy and gives a feeling of security.
How to use: Place 1 drop of White Angelica in your palms and rub together. Then put your hands on the top of your head and lightly brush hands over your head, face, shoulders and body to uplift and energise your spirits and protect your energies.

And that’s it. These 4 Blends carefully selected to work together to give you a great day! To give you hope, reawakens your passion, lifts you up enough to set your goals…and lastly, an oil to remind you that you are protected and favoured by the Divine (in my case, my God who sent His only begotten son to die for my sin so that I can be reunited with Him and bring Heaven to Earth).
I recalled how last year, during Gary’s memorial service in Young Living Singapore office, the staffs put the oils from Gary’s Great Day Protocol together into a roller bottle and gave it freely to everyone who attended the service. I was really touched by the time and effort they put in despite going through the loss and grief like us distributors. And maybe even more so for them who had worked longer in the company. Very blessed by this team…
So I checked with them and the DIY Blend recipe for Gary’s Great Day Protocol was:
- 10 drops Valor
- 10 drops Harmony
- 10 drops Joy
- 10 drops White Angelica
Put them all in a 10ml roller bottle, top up with V6 and you are done. Then you can bring it around, roll on your wrist, side of neck and inhale directly from wrists of palms whenever you need to. Or give the roller as a gift to the friend who needed it. The oils worked more than one way to keep someone from feeling too sad. High in frequency, stimulate the limbic brain where memories and emotions are stored…helping you to feel good…helping you to feel hopeful again…
And it’s anti-bullying because a person who’s resilience, emotionally stabled and mentally strong will not be bullied nor will they bully. It’s a win-win protocol!
