HEALTHY LADY GARDEN

HEALTHY LADY GARDEN

This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.

A few days ago, this article by CNA caught my attention. The article is about this Singaporean lady, Sharon, who was treated with antibiotics for UTI but due to resistance to antibiotics, the infections spread to her kidneys! YIKES!!! She was fine in the end but this sounded some alarm bells in me as I was dealing with UTI and Yeast Infection just recently. Ever since my hot springs dipping in Japan early in June this year, I’ve been feeling very uncomfortable with my…ahem…’Lady Garden’. Suspecting that my discomfort was from the hot springs since this is the 2nd time I got it. The first infection experience I got was 2008 after bathing in hot springs too! Tour guides (usually guys) will always advise us not to wash/rinse off the sulphur/minerals after hot spring dipping. So I stupidly heeded their advice not to rinse off after dipping.

Armed with that suspicion about hot spring, I did a google and found this article by this Taiwanese dermatologist. The article stated that about 72 percent of women experienced genital itching or irritation after bathing in hot spring. So the dermatologist advised women to wash their “lady garden” well after bathing in hot springs. OMG…I wished I hadn’t listened to the tour guides!

Below are symptoms of UTI and Yeast Infection:

Symptoms of UTISymptoms of yeast infection
pain and burning when urinatingpain when urinating or having sex
feeling the need to urinate more often than usual, even when you don’t actually have to relieve yourselfitchiness in the affected area (such as your vagina and vulva)
awakening from sleep to go to the bathroomswelling in the affected area (for a vaginal yeast infection, that would be in the vagina and vulva)
discolored or cloudy urine that may be red or pink from bloodpain in the affected area
foul-smelling urinehaving unusual, generally odorless, vaginal discharge that is thick and milky looking (for vaginal yeast infections)
fever or chills, vomiting, or nausea, which may all be signs of a more serious infection
pain or feeling of pressure in your lower abdomen, back, and sides
pain in your pelvis, especially if you’re a woman
I was having symptoms from both categories! Itchiness…checked! Awakening from sleep to go to the bathroom…checked! Vaginal discharge that is thick and milking looking…checked! (churning cottage cheese, my hub says…@#!$%#) Pain…discomfort, not yet pain…feeling of pressure in lower abdomen and sides…checked!

Apparently, you can get yeast infection when you contact UTI simply because the antibiotics prescribed to treat UTI can kill off beneficial bacterial that prevent the overgrowth of yeast. And douching is not recommended simply because douching upsets the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina (called vaginal flora). These changes make the environment more favourable for the growth of bacteria that cause infection.
So this cannot, that cannot…what should I DO???? Now aren’t I glad I have my oils with me???

But before I proceed, here are some practical ways to preventing UTI & Yeast Infection:
  • Drink water. Check your urine. Urine colours darker than pale yellow is an indication to increase fluid intake.
  • Probiotics can stop infections bacteria from ascending the urinary tract and prevent UTIs from occurring. (Think Life9)
  • Raise your pH with foods high in antioxidants. (NingXia Red!)
  • Hygiene Practises:
    • wiping front to back
    • urinating frequently will help to flush out bacteria before it has a chance to multiply
    • avoid allergens such as feminine deodorant sprays or bubble bath.
    • wear breathable material such as cotton and prevent moisture accumulating and leading to bacterial overgrowth.
And here’s how you can manage with Young Living products if you have UTI or Yeast Infection:

  1. Take your Ningxia Red. 60ml to 120ml a day as antioxidant drinks gives you a higher pH urine and makes it unfriendly for the yeast to hang around.
  2. Take your Life9 as the restoration of the urogenital flora may protect against UTIs.
  3. Drip Essential oils such as Melaluca Alternifolia, Myrrh, Oregano Rosemary, Palo Santo, Thieves or Purification on your cotton panty direct for some aromatherapy throughout the day. (I swear by the newest Australian Ericifolia…it is SO GOOD…)
  4. Douche (see the appliance above) with a tablespoon of Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash and clean water every night. (I swear by it! This is the best!)
  5. The next in line to take care of are our kidneys. Support your kidneys with Carrot Seed, Juniper or the blend GLF. I will apply the oils topically over the kidney area neat. Mix with V6 if you have sensitive skin.
Optional: Supplementing with SuperC is also good to up your immune system.

After battling with UTI and Yeast Infection for almost 3 months with the oils keeping them under control. I decided to speed up after reading the CNA article and started supplementing with Life9 and douching with Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash. So far so good! I am sleeping better for sure!

I hope my sharing is helpful to you. I am surprised by the number of people affected by UTI yearly. According to the Ministry of Health’s list of principal causes of death here, UTI ranked eighth, higher than chronic obstructive lung diseases and type 2 diabetes. The numbers showed that 2 per cent of total deaths were caused by UTI each year – more than 400 people. Oh and since emptying your bladder is crucial to keeping UTI at bay, you will have to over come your fear of using the public toilet. Especially if you are travelling. One great tip from Magdalene Kline is to carry around a Thieves Spray and disinfect that toilet seats. 🙂

ILLUMINEYES

ILLUMINEYES

This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.

With the introduction of smart phones and digital devices, digital eye stain is becoming a major health issue for EVERYONE. 72% of children spend more than 2 hours a day on digital devices. While about 85% of adults spend more than 2 hours a day.

Most notably, the display screens of those digital devices emit significant amounts of blue light. But what is blue light??? Do you noticed any of the symptoms such as eye strain, dry eyes, headaches, and even blurred vision  after prolonged screen time? The culprit is none other than blue light.

Blue light generally is defined as visible light ranging from 380 to 500 nm. Blue light sometimes is further broken down into blue-violet light (roughly 380 to 450 nm) and blue-turquoise light (roughly 450 to 500 nm). So approximately one-third of all visible light is considered high-energy visible (HEV) or “blue” light. (Information source from https://www.allaboutvision.com/cvs/blue-light.htm)
So how do we protect our eyes??? I strongly encourage every adult to look into IlluminEyes which was launched during convention 2019.

Check out Dr Michael Buch’s video here explaining IlluminEyes.

The Young Living research team had developed this new eye supplement that delivers an optimised blend of compounds to support your macular pigment. This product actually protects eyes from damaging blue light found in sunlight and mobile devices. It also help protects and maintain healthy cells in the eyes.

IlluminEyes is a natural combination of Acerola Cherry, Marigold Flower, and Goji berry (Wolfberry) that supports eye and skin health.

Benefits of IlluminEyes

  • Protects eyes from damaging blue light
  • Improves visual performance
  • Helps protect and maintain proper eye health
  • Helps support vision in low light settings.
  • Helps reduce eye fatigue and eye strain.
  • Increases macular pigment optical density.
  • May help reduce eye health deterioration that is common with Aging.
  • Maintains healthy looking skin.
  • Helps support skin strength and durability.
Directions for use

Take 1 capsule with food.

Your sight is just too important to risk. IlluminEyes is available for purchase in Young Living Singapore as well and it just came back in stock. Feel free to contact me if you need help getting one bottle.

IMMUNOLOGY & IMMUPOWER

IMMUNOLOGY & IMMUPOWER

This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.

Immunology is the study of the immune system and is a very important branch of the medical and biological sciences. The immune system is definitely one of the most important systems in your body. I’ve always referred to it as the body’s first line of defense and we must take care of it! And in this blog, I am going to simplify and help you understand a bit of Immunology and why you will want to use ImmuPower to support.

Our Immune System Organs

Here’s a diagram of our organs that made up our Immune System:
Image result for human immune system organs

  1. Thymus: The thymus is an organ located in the upper chest. Immature lymphocytes leave the bone marrow and find their way to the thymus where they are “educated” to become mature T-lymphocytes.
  2. Liver: The liver is the major organ responsible for synthesizing proteins of the complement system. In addition, it contains large numbers of phagocytic cells which ingest bacteria in the blood as it passes through the liver.
  3. Bone Marrow: The bone marrow is the location where all cells of the immune system begin their development from primitive stem cells.
  4. Tonsils: Tonsils are collections of lymphocytes in the throat.
  5. Lymph Nodes: Lymph nodes are collections of B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes throughout the body. Cells congregate in lymph nodes to communicate with each other.
  6. Spleen: The spleen is a collection of T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes and monocytes. It serves to filter the blood and provides a site for organisms and cells of the immune system to interact.
  7. Blood: Blood is the circulatory system that carries cells and proteins of the immune system from one part of the body to another.
Cells of the Immune System

  1. Bone marrow: The site in the body where most of the cells of the immune system are produced as immature or stem cells.
  2. Stem cells: These cells have the potential to differentiate and mature into the different cells of the immune system.
  3. Thymus: An organ located in the chest which instructs immature lymphocytes to become mature T-lymphocytes.
  4. B-Cells: These lymphocytes arise in the bone marrow and differentiate into plasma cells which in turn produce immunoglobulins (antibodies).
  5. Cytotoxic T-cells: These lymphocytes mature in the thymus and are responsible for killing infected cells.
  6. Helper T-cells: These specialized lymphocytes “help” other T-cells and B-cells to perform their functions.
  7. Plasma Cells: These cells develop from B-cells and are the cells that make immunoglobulin for the serum and the secretions.
  8. Immunoglobulins: These highly specialized protein molecules, also known as antibodies, fit foreign antigens, such as polio, like a lock and key. Their variety is so extensive that they can be produced to match all possible microorganisms in our environment.
  9. Neutrophils (Polymorphonuclear PMN Cell): A type of cell found in the blood stream that rapidly ingests microorganisms and kills them.
  10. Monocytes:A type of phagocytic cell found in the blood stream which develops into a macrophage when it migrates to tissues.
  11. Red Blood Cells: The cells in the blood stream which carry oxygen from the lungs to the tissues.
  12. Platelets: Small cells in the blood stream which are important in blood clotting.
  13. Dendritic Cells: Important cells in presenting antigen to immune system cells.
After going through so many websites on google, I gathered most of the information above from: https://primaryimmune.org/immune-system-and-primary-immunodeficiency

Which is to the point and very clear for me.

And as you can see, there are many many parts of our bodies that governs our immune system and they are working on overdrive whenever we are stressed…too tired…hormonal imbalances…they come as a package! Immune and hormones…so you feel even suckier.

But hang on…hang on…the founder of Young Living, Gary Young, already created the solution for us. It is called “ImmuPower”. ImmuPower is a blend made with Hyssop, Mountain Savory, Cistus, Ravintsara, Oregano, Clove, Cumin, Idaho Tansy. Each of those oils were carefully chosen for their wonderful capabilities to help bring the body’s physical and emotional health. Take a drop or two of ImmuPower, mix it with V6 and apply it upwards from the base of your spine to near your neck. You can throwing in some feathering strokes like in Raindrop as you apply ImmuPower because…the stroking movement will stimulate the Parasympathetic Nervous System which in turn…supported your Immune System!

In layman’s term, what ImmuPower does is that it take over the job of supporting the immune system (first line of defense remember?) and thus the body has time to go fix the other stuffs! And that…ladies and gentlemen…is why you will want ImmuPower on your order list!

Isn’t it wonderful and amazing how our bodies are designed? All we need to do is learn and find out for ourselves.

EMPOWERING EMOTIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

EMPOWERING EMOTIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.

Summary and excerpts from Gary Young’s Training Tape 17.

When we are dealing with emotions and emotional problems, always start with Valor. Valor is important as the first step for grounding first. Apply Valor and hold onto the feet for 5 to 10 minutes. Allowing for time to feel, think and reflect on their feelings.

The next oil will be Harmony, because it helps to set the frequency, harmonizing the energy centers (chakras, meridians or whatever terms you are accustomed to). Harmony helps to open up the energy blocks in your body to get the energy flowing properly through it. It also sets a beautiful tone which your body responds to.

Spend about 10 minutes between the two oils in the application. Take it slowly and allow for emotional release when it happens. But it differs from person to person as not everyone is comfortable with baring their emotions in public.

Gary said, “When you are dealing with emotions, you do it very, very quietly – no talking, no music playing, no strobe lights running, no waterfalls, no frogs croaking, crickets cricking – nothing but total silence.”

This is because we are programmed to lock onto the sound instead of going to the feeling. It’s just like driving down the road and turning the radio on. Where does your mind go? It goes to the sound. That’s why the ancient Egyptians had a sealed room where they carried out emotional clearing ritual. With the door closed and locked and not one single sound can be heard. Even in daylight, the room was dark because it has a only very tiny door. So it was total silence and total sightlessness that helped shifted them into a space where they could bring up their feelings. That is the key of it.

In certain Tibetan monasteries, they deal with emotionally distraught people with behavior problems by putting them in a solid room with a little door and a window. It was a plain room with no colors on the wall, just cement. And a chair, and that’s it. They put them there for 3 days and 3 nights and there’s a cot at night for them to sleep on. The people in the room were handed juice and water periodically. An old gentleman told Gary about this and he said, “Mr Young, when man cannot see, and man cannot talk, and man cannot hear – he deals with himself.”

Putting Valor and Harmony on will help you get in that space. And when memories start to surface, treasure the good ones and reinforce them for they give you strength and appreciation for being alive in this world. But if a negative memory came up, bless it, release it and let it go. Replace it with a good thought. Take Present time and rub it on the thalamus and lay there and give it 10 minutes.

“What do I feel like I really need? Do I know who I am? Am I proud of what I am? Am I motivated about what I am doing in life? Am I angry? Do I need to deal with forgiveness? Do I need more hope in my life?” Just role-play that in your mind and see which one of the oil blends grabs you, and maybe that particular time as you go down through it, you recall…

“Golly, I really need to forgive my sweetheart for saying that I look pretty dorky. “ Then grab Forgiveness and just rub it on the face and rub it around the tummy button…because maybe your sweetheart said something that made you upset and you got angry at her and hollered back or made a derogatory comment or something. Folks, use these oils to empower your relationship with your loved ones. Use them to go there and do these things.

Dream Catcher stimulates the mind to dream and it helps you to anchor onto those dreams. Gary believed the biggest part about dreaming is following your dream all the way through to fruition. Once you have burst the dream, it may not materialize in the exactness, but if you stay with it you will get some form of it into completion, and generally it will turn out better than the original dream, so that is really important.

Having experienced what the oils had created for people on an emotional level, Gary created the Feelings Kit. To assist with emotional release. However, if you know of someone who does have a real heavy-duty emotional problem, just give them an oil to start off with. You can consider giving them Joy, or Forgiveness.

Use White Angelica to seal and protect that emotion or feeling you’ve released. Take White Angelica and rub it on your chest, shoulders and the back of your neck. Wear it every day to protect you.

Or perhaps you need to look at finding somebody here before you leave who will be your buddy (if you are a single person living alone) where you can say, “Can I call you to get reinforcement? Can I call you to encourage you?” Just create a buddy system so when you go out of this room tonight you don’t sabotage yourself and undo all that you are feeling right now, but that you carry it forward until it manifests in your life.

MANAGING PUBERTY

MANAGING PUBERTY

This post is contributed by One Drop member – Ranna Seah.

It was recently that I noticed my 10 year old daughter was spending a lot more time in the toilet. She was experiencing tummy aches and even though she tried, there was no ‘output’ into the toilet bowl…if you get my drift. Then that was when it finally dawn on me that she was experiencing stomach cramps…then I realised…ohh…it’s starting! And rightfully so. I remembered I had my first period at the end of the year I was 11 years old. And legend has it that the daughter will have similar experiences to the mother. So I started preparing and I put together this set of graphics to help mothers going through the same circumstances with their precious ones.

First up, we have to understand the Signs of Puberty for the girls and boys:

Puberty starts when the brain begins to send signals to the body to prepare for changes. Then there will be physical changes to the body and they start to sweat more too. And because the request for boys were heard after I released the information about girls, I did some research about boys and puberty too. It seem that the physical change for boys are more gradual than girls so they have more time to adjust and accept. However for boys, it is also a challenge (I feel) to deal with voice change and sometimes get made fun of. Boys can really carry jokes a tad too far than girls sometimes…

Here are the products to support your child going through puberty from top to toe:

It is definitely important that we do a ditch and switch to their toothpaste, shampoos and shower gel. Endocrine disruptors, sometimes also referred to as hormonally active agents, may be found in those chemical compounds in those daily self-care products that we use. We should avoid using plastic bottles too as there are endocrine disruptors in them too. These disruptions can cause developmental disorders and make puberty even more uncomfortable it already is.

The endocrine support oils are a bit different. For girls, I will chose Geranium, Endoflex or Ylang Ylang as the flower oils tend to signify more for beauty as well and dedication. For boys, I will go for Mister. Idaho Blue Spruce and SclarEssence (this blend is good for girls as well).

The highlighted spots are where you will get the endocrine supportive oils on for your growing child. And please remember that they are semi-adults now, so it is very important we ask them for permission to oil them. We are also indirectly empowering them to say no so when the circumstances arise for them to say no, they will be able to say ‘no’.

I have to pay attention to the ‘growing pains’ because my daughter is very sensitive to changes of her body like me. So all the growing and stretching are uncomfortable for her. And if you do not have what I listed for support in the image, I’ve found OrthoSports Massage Oil or BodyEase Massage Oil or simply V6 + Lemongrass + Wintergreen helped her too. So you are free to put together oils that work better for your child than what I suggested. And I will love to hear and learn from you what else helped too! 🙂 We all learn by sharing and exchanging notes.

And this set…emotionally…we need to support our kids. If you are one of those super grounded mummies who practise Yoga and have a vegan diet, you may know or experience mood swings your growing kids might have. I get them a lot. And I find that one of the biggest reason why I flew into rage sometimes…it is usually due to a lack of confidence. So if you can help your child stay grounded, confidence…that can really help them a lot.

Number one favourite for confidence other than Valor (yes yes please use Valor too!) Believe…Ylang Ylang (self-love), Acceptance that what they are going through are necessary. And finally…if your child is taking this transition to teenager/adulthood hard…help to shift them with TraumaLife. Put over their heart, around their ears and let them inhale from palm.

After putting together all the products I wished I had when I was going through puberty, I realised that Young Living has a very impressive range that really go from head to toe and inside to outside. I wished I had Mirah Hair Oil then…for it was during my puberty that my hair suddenly grew thicker, coarser and fizzy. It was so hard to manage for me then and was one of the reason for my lack of confidence as I was unable to accept the change. So for my daughter, I made sure I get some Mirah Hair Oil on for her and the Acne Cream really helped supported and cleared her little pimples. Phew…and hurray for Young Living.
